I. The Big Picture: What It Is & How It Works

1. What exactly is the OZELO™ Engine?

The OZELO™ Engine is a secure, automated software tool that runs directly on your own computer. It lets you offer The Smart Investor Program — an 84-month (seven-year) financial-literacy curriculum — to the children of your clients. It takes your standard monthly performance spreadsheet and automatically generates personalized, educational portfolio updates that are sent to the parents to share with their child.

2. Why do I need a program for my clients' children?

Industry research (Cerulli, 2025) shows that roughly 73% of heirs fire their parents' advisor once a wealth transfer occurs. The OZELO™ Engine is built to solve that exact problem before it happens. By building a structured, 7-year relationship with the child — well before they inherit — you turn an at-risk account into a lifelong client, protecting your AUM for the next generation rather than losing it at the transfer. The OZELO™ ROI calculator on the website models this conservatively: rather than using the full 73% figure, it defaults to a 51% heir-attrition assumption — a 30% discount on the research — so the projected impact on your book under-promises rather than over-sells.

3. Does this replace my firm's existing CRM or email system?

No. The OZELO™ Engine works alongside your current systems. It requires no complex integrations, APIs, or IT overhauls. It simply acts as a secure bridge between your monthly spreadsheet export and your standard outbox, such as Outlook or Gmail.

4. How does the software know what to say to each family?

The engine contains a structured 84-month curriculum and tracks exactly how many updates each family has received. Every month it advances that family to their next lesson — rotating through "TableTalk" conversation starters, "Beyond the Ledger" innovation stories, and, in the later years, narrative Case Studies — so the child's financial education builds steadily across all seven years.

5. How much extra work does this create for me each month?

Very little. Once a client is enrolled, the monthly process takes about five minutes. You export your standard performance spreadsheet locally, drop it into the OZELO™ Engine, and click dispatch. The software calculates each child's milestones, attaches the correct curriculum piece for that family's specific month, and drafts and sends the emails through your own outbox.

6. Is the program available in French?

Yes. The full curriculum is available in Québec French (L'Investisseur Futé) as well as English, so you can serve your entire client base in the language each family prefers — an important consideration for advisors operating in Québec. Each family receives their monthly briefs, À table! conversation starters, and case studies in their chosen language.

7. What if the child is younger — say, 8 or 9?

The core curriculum is written for a child who can engage with the concepts and grow with them over the seven-year program. For families with younger children, a dedicated bridge program is on the roadmap and slated for deployment soon — designed to introduce age-appropriate foundations early and then hand the child off smoothly into the main Smart Investor Program when they're ready. If you have younger children in a client's family today, we can note that and prioritize getting them started as the bridge program becomes available.

II. The Client Experience: What They Receive

8. What do the parents and child actually see each month?

Each month the parent receives an "Executive Brief" meant to be shared with their child. It focuses on absolute dollar growth rather than percentages, so the child can see plainly how their money is compounding. It also includes a short "Beyond the Ledger" innovation story and a "TableTalk" question or Case Study designed to spark an easy, engaging conversation about money at the kitchen table.

9. How does the child's Executive Brief differ from the standard performance report I send to parents?

Standard financial reports are built for adults — percentage yields, benchmark comparisons, trailing returns, and complex charts. Hand that to a twelve-year-old and you lose them immediately.

The OZELO™ Engine acts as a translation layer. It draws the core data from your standard reporting and reconstructs it into a clear, age-appropriate narrative. Key features of the child's brief include:

10. How does the system handle new clients without accidentally spamming them — or my existing clients?

The OZELO™ Engine has a built-in "Cooldown Safeguard" that paces communications and prevents accidental duplicate sends. It works in two ways:

11. What happens when the 84 months are complete?

By the end of the program, the child has spent seven years watching their own portfolio grow and having regular, structured conversations about it — with you positioned as the advisor who made that possible. The program is designed to create a natural bridge into a direct advisory relationship as the child becomes a young adult, giving you a path to retain the next generation of the family rather than losing them at the wealth transfer.

III. Security, Privacy & Compliance: Why It's Safe

12. How is my clients' data protected? Is any of it stored in the cloud?

No client data is ever uploaded to the cloud or shared with third parties. The software runs entirely on your own computer, using a strict zero-cloud, multi-layered security architecture:

There is no cloud database, no web portal, and no external middleman that could be breached.

13. How does the software scan my spreadsheet, and what happens to the data?

The engine follows a strict data-minimization, zero-cloud protocol. When you drop in your monthly spreadsheet, it scans the rows only for the specific Account IDs you have explicitly enrolled in your local encrypted vault.

14. What happens after the scan is complete and the emails are ready?

Once the system has matched the IDs and drafted the briefs, that information exists only temporarily in the software's live memory. When you click "Dispatch," the emails are sent through your own authorized outbox, and the engine then clears its working memory.

15. Can cleartext client information (names, IDs, emails) be seen on screen?

No. The engine uses a "masked-always" interface, so cleartext personally identifiable information (PII) is never displayed on your dashboard or edit screens — eliminating shoulder-surfing risk. When you edit a profile, fields are overwrite-only. Information is masked as follows:

16. How does this architecture support Law 25 and PIPEDA compliance?

Under Québec's Law 25, sharing client data with third-party marketing platforms introduces significant liability and strict consent requirements. Because the OZELO™ Engine operates only on your own computer, encrypts data locally, and sends email through your own authorized account, client data never leaves your custody. You remain the sole custodian of your clients' information at all times. No emails are sent to a family until the parent has signed the consent form — enrolment cannot begin without it. This "compliance by architecture" approach also supports your obligations under PIPEDA and Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL), since enrolment is consent-based and all communication runs through your own systems.

17. What happens if my laptop is lost or stolen?

Your clients' data remains protected by four independent layers:

18. What happens if my laptop dies, or I move to a new machine?

You migrate to your new hardware yourself, in a documented four-step recovery flow — OZELO never touches your data:

Because the passphrase is held only by you, OZELO Inc. cannot recover the vault on your behalf if both the passphrase and every backup copy are lost. That is the intentional tradeoff of the zero-cloud, sole-custody architecture — it is what makes the security story defensible to your compliance officer.

IV. Getting Started & Pricing

19. What does it cost?

Pricing is billed to you, the advisor — never to the family — and is bracket-based, so it scales gently with the number of families you enroll: $15/family for your first 6, $14 at family 7, $13 for 8–9, $12 for 10–13, $11 for 14–19, $10 for 20–25, $9 for 26–35, $8 for 36–52, $7 for 53–78, and $6 for every family from 79 onward. Model the cost against your own book, alongside the projected return, using the OZELO™ ROI calculator. Defaults sit deliberately below public benchmarks so the case under-promises rather than over-sells.
